Malaysia Esports Event Organizer That Builds Communities

At REF Venture, we don’t just organize tournaments — we create experiences that connect gamers, fans, and brands. Built by gamers, for gamers, our mission is to transform every match, every event, and every interaction into a celebration of gaming culture.

Founded on 1 January 2022 in a humble ping pong hall in Penang, REF Venture has grown into one of Malaysia’s most passionate community-driven esports organizers. Our journey began even earlier, in 2016, where we first learned how to organize tournaments that bring people together and build lasting communities.

Today, we have successfully delivered over 20 esports events across Malaysia and beyond — ranging from grassroots competitions to international-level showdowns. Our flagship event, Jemputan 2023, featured world-class players such as Arslan Ash, LowHigh, Kkokkoma, JoKa, and Book, marking a significant milestone in Malaysia’s esports scene.

In 2025, REF Venture secured the Dana eSukan grant from Kementerian Belia dan Sukan Malaysia and successfully delivered Rise of the North 2025, a large-scale state-level Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) championship held in Perlis, Indera Kayangan. The event attracted over 50 participating teams, highlighting the growing strength of the northern esports ecosystem.

The tournament further elevated its professional standard by featuring prominent MPL Malaysia casters, Mars and Sunfrost, delivering a high-quality broadcast experience that enhanced both player performance and audience engagement.

More than just a competition, Rise of the North 2025 served as a strategic platform to empower the local esports ecosystem. It was designed to uncover new talents, strengthen community networks, and provide amateur players with the opportunity to experience a professional-level tournament.

Aligned with the national esports development strategy (NESDEG) by Kementerian Belia dan Sukan Malaysia, the initiative emphasized inclusivity by engaging underserved communities, rural youth, and encouraging women’s participation — not only as players, but also as part of the organizing team.

REF Venture is committed to building a safe, ethical, and sustainable esports environment through initiatives such as anti-bullying, anti-harassment, mental health awareness, and the promotion of sportsmanship and fair play. Through this, we aim not only to produce champions, but to nurture a resilient, inclusive, and competitive esports community.
